The World Society of Victimology is a not-for-profit, nongovernmental organization with Special Category consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations and the Council of Europe. 

 

WSV 2024

The 18th WSV Symposium (01-05 September 2024) – National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat (India)

Host – The National Forensic Sciences University with the status of an Institution of National Importance is the world’s first and only University dedicated to Forensic, behavioural, cybersecurity, digital forensics, and allied Sciences.

Purpose: To promote Victimology as a scientific endeavour; and, advocate for laws and policy that enhance victims’ rights and improve victim assistance to enable timely, fair and equitable access to justice for all victims and survivors.

The International Symposium on Victimology

The premier event of the Society, which is held every three years in a different country, and attended by hundreds of WSV members as well as academics and professionals from a wide variety of related fields. 

International Advocacy and Consulting:

The WSV maintains accredited representatives to the Council of Europe, and to United Nations offices in New York, Geneva, Vienna and at other locations where the UN meets. 

The Victimologist, Newsletter of the Society:

This newsletter has been published since 1982, keeping members informed and involved in Society matters, on news of interest, research within the field, and on victim assistance and victim rights in general. 

WSV Committees:

In order to help accomplish the mission and goals of the WSV, the Society organizes a number of standing committees, inviting any interested member in good standing to take part.

ABOUT US

The World Society of Victimology is a not-for-profit, nongovernmental organization with Special Category consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations and the Council of Europe. Brought together by a mutual concern for victims, its world-wide membership includes: victim assistance practitioners, social scientists, social workers, physicians, lawyers, civil servants, volunteers, university academics of all levels, and students.

The WSV is a member-driven organization, drawing its members from diverse fields including: science, the social sciences, victim assistance, academica, policy making, governance and other specialized areas of expertise. The members of the Society elect the Executive Committee, which governs the Society and acts on behalf of the membership.
